Course Profile And Route Map
The START line is opposite lamp post #13 next to Knowledge Commons building, on CSIR Campus, on Yellowwood.
Runners go around the Yellow-wood in a clockwise direction and exit from the campus via the EAST Gate, onto
Boekenhout, where they turn left. They continue north along Kesselaar and then turn right at the end of Kesselaar
into Brummeria. At the end of Brummeria the runners turn left onto Mispell and then first right into Ratel. At the
end of Ratel the runners turn left into Orpen and then left again into Kuisis. At the end of Kuisis the runners turn
right up Ysterhout. At the top of Ysterhout the runners turn right in Boekenhout and continue back to the CSIR EAST
Gate where they re-enter the CSIR Campus. After the gates the runners branch to the left and do a loop around the
Fire Tunnel and then proceed up the hill on Mopane behind the CSIR Gym. At the top of the hill, just past the CSIR
Creche road, the runners turn left up the jeep track towards the Sentech Tower. At the top of the hill the runners
turn left on to Toitoise (also a jeep track) which they continue on, contouring around the koppjie, until they turn left
to exit onto Steenbok, the upper campus ring road. At Duiker the runners turn left and proceed clockwise around the
upper campus ring road, going around the DST roundabout and right, back up the hill on Kiepersol, before then turn
left at the top into Duiker to start the descent back to the lower campus. At the bottom of Duicker the runners turn
right along Yellow-wood to complete an out-and-back loop around the car park associated with Building 3 (South),
after which they return in a clockwise direction back along Yellow-wood towards the main A-Frame Gate. At the
Main Gate cross-roads the runners turn right into Strelitzia and do a 2nd out-and back around the round-about
outside Building Building 3 (North), returning back to the cross-roads at the Main Gate. The runners then turn right,
continuing clockwise around Yellow-wood to the finish (the 10km run) on the grass area between the Knowledge
Commons and Building #7. The finish line is the line between to last two big trees, approx 130 m from the tar road.
The 21 km runners continue clockwise along Yellow-wood, until turn left after Building #9 to go behind Building #10,
and follow the CSIR Campus fence line jeep track, clockwise around the northern and eastern fence until turn right
between Buildings # 15 and 16 to get back onto the tar road leading to Kingfisher. The runners turn left on Kingfisher
to re-join Yellow-wood, turning left again. The runners then proceed to the EAST Gate as per the first lap, and
contine around Kesselar and Brummeria as per the first lap. At the intersection with Brummeria and the N4 road
bridge, the 21 km runners turn left across the bridge and then left again into Cussonia Avenue. The runners continue
west along Cussonia until turning left into Meiring Naude. The runners continue along Meiring Naude past both CSIR
entrances and the Kings Highway intersection, before turning left into the Lynburn Gated Community at the
Darlington Road gate. The runners then continue down Darlington, turning left into Charbury and then left again into
Dorking, and left again into Lindfield, before exiting the gated community at the gated intersection between
Lindfield and Lynburn Roads. The runners turn left onto Lynburn and continue along Lynburn through the robots
(with Ashton), until turning left eventually into Boekenhout towards St Paulus School and the CSIR EAST Gate. The
runners re-enter the CSIR Campus through the North Gate, turning right along Hadeda, and then right into Yellowwood
in order to finish around the lower campus ring road in an anti-clockwise direction. Two small out-and-back
loops through the north and south car-parks for Building 20 are used to gain distance, before finishing at the same
finish line as the 10 km route, on the grass area between the Knowledge Commons and Building #7. The finish line is
the line between to last two big trees, approx 130 m from the tar road.
The CSIR Race supports the #RunClean campaign by calling on all runners to stop dropping used sachets & littering during the race. Extra bins will be provided on the road for this purpose.
